Our Garvey Gummy Bears are inspired by The Honorable Marcus Garvey's work and legacy. Marcus Garvey was born in Kingston, Jamaica on August 17, 1887 and died in London, England on June 10, 1940. He was a Jamaican political activist, publisher, journalist, entrepreneur, and orator. He was the founder and first President-General of the Universal Negro Improvement Association and African Communities League (UNIA-ACL, commonly known as UNIA), through which he declared himself Provisional President of Africa. Ideologically a black nationalist and Pan-Africanist, his ideas came to be known as Garveyism. The Honorable Marcus Garvey also is the creator of the Pan African Flag, whose colors are Red, Black and green. Red for the blood of Africans, Black for the skin of Africans and Green to represent the vegetation (Land) and we as Black people acknowledge that the Pan African flag represents unity among Africans (Black People) worldwide.
